Gaming Standards Association announces birth of Game-to-System

NEW NAME FOR COMBINED PROTOCOL

The Gaming Standards Association (GSA) and IGT have combined forces to present the gaming industry with a single protocol solution. GSA’s Best of Breed (BOB) Version 1.1 and IGT’s SuperSAS protocols will be known as Games-to-System (G2S), a name chosen to give an accurate description of what the protocol encompasses.

Over the past months engineers have been working to bring together the best elements of BOB and SuperSAS to create G2S. Release for the new combined protocol is scheduled for April 2006, bringing the gaming world a single industry solution. As Lyle Bell, Senior VP of IT with the Seminole Tribe of Florida and Chairman of GSA, commented, “The combined protocol really is the best of both worlds, and is better than either protocol alone. It’s flexible, efficient, and brings the casino floor of the future to life today.”

John Boushy, SVP for Harrah's Entertainment and GSA Secretary, said, "G2S is a tremendous step forward for the industry because G2S moves the industry forward in the same direction, not divided between protocols with separate potentials. Hopefully this will result in more rapid innovation, lower R&D costs for suppliers, improved regulatory approval times, and more choice for casino operators."

The GSA is an international trade association that represents gaming manufacturers, suppliers, operators and regulators. It facilitates the identification, definition, development, promotion, and implementation of open standards to enable innovation, education, and communication for the benefit of the entire industry. Since its incorporation on May 6, 1998, GSA has members representing a wide cross section of the global gaming industry. (E-12.23.05)
