At the SAGSE Buenos Aires 2005 expo in Argentina, the Korean company ACE Amusement & Gaming presented its fantastic game ACE NET ASCOT, which is a computer generated horse racing game system with quasi real graphics and images. Like at actual race tracks, horses and riders take up positions inside stalls for races that vary between 6 and 12 runners, and distances between 1,000 metres sprints up to classic distances of 2,000 metres.
Each horse and rider has its own form book and stats on the races run to date. The racing form takes into account the going on the tracks for five different hippodromes, horses 'behaviour' with each type of jockey, the results for the last five races, and general pointers to a horse's past performance as well as its chances for each race.
ACE has a team of more than 30 computer designers working constantly on the development of ACE NET ASCOT to provide regular upgrades to the system, and for this reason games room operators in Korea are rapidly switching to the ACE system in that country. In fact, throughout this year, ACE NET ASCOT has been the only system sold in Korea, as both punters and operators have realized that out of the only two horse race game manufacturers that now remain in the country, ACE NET ASCOT is the real favourite.
As both systems were exhibited at G2E 2005 in Las Vegas last September, ACE NET ASCOT received rave reviews from game designers from the major slot manufacturers, as the game's graphics and resolution placed it head and shoulders over its competitors. In this 3D system, players are able to place bets in real time in 2 minute sequences using terminals with touch screen monitors that feature a tote betting programme that clearly shows prices for the runners to WIN, PLACE, and Straight and reverse forecast, called EXACTA AND QUINELA.
The dividends available to the punters have been devised exactly like those at a race track or hippodrome. Students of the form book have a very fair chance of winning at ACE NET ASCOT races, if the horses run true to form and there are no upsets, but for the sake of operators the system is provided with the hold that permits the usual margins for the house. Additionally, the punters have the opportunity to hit a kind of mystery jackpot called the ACECUMULATOR.
The ACECUMULATOR pays up to 9,999 times a horse's winning dividend, and the player who wins when the ACECUMULATOR pays, can multiply his winnings up to 9,999 times. There is no need to get a sequence of 3, 4, 5 or six winners to hit it big in ACE NET ASCOT, the ACECUMULATOR pays to the winner of just one race!
Computer generated horse racing games have put out of business all other types of horse racing games in Korea, and are rapidly doing the same in the rest of South East Asia. There are more than one thousand games rooms in Korea specially designed for these type of games, and in just two years ACE has claimed 20% of the market and is increasing its share. Now the company has ventured into the international market, and taken part in South American expos in Panama, Peru and Argentina, as well as Las Vegas.
In Buenos Aires, where the Sport of Kings is a crowd favourite, race track operators wll install the ACE system as a means of operating horse racing on a 24/7 basis. As one of the operators said, "In this way we can defend ourselves from the attack of slot machines." Touche! Already race tracks from Canada to Brazil are in contact with ACE to install the system and enable them to profit from a spectacular feature which has races projected on to screens as large as 6.4 metres wide. At the same time the company is working towards closing deals with several casinos in a number of countries around the globe.
ACE President Kim Ying Tae's commitment to gaming development innovations like ACE NET ASCOT is second only to his commitment to social causes in his country, and he is insistent that a percentage of the company's revenue should be directed to community projects in the new countries where ACE sets foot. The company has acquired premises in California, where a subsidiary is already operating, and is set to open its first office in South America.
During the SAGSE Buenos Aires show ACE NET ASCOT was chosen by local TV network Canal 26 for a full three minute feature at prime time and, as the excited commentator said after playing the game: "This is an experienceso exciting that the only thing I can say is that this game offers the players a game where everyone feels a winner!" Lee Sang Sae, ACE Managing Director was quick to comment: "Indeed! And operators also experience a winning sensation as revenues from ACE NET ASCOT contribute meaningfully to their operations."
