Amazing Holdings Plc, incorporated in the Isle of Man, Great Britain, is a development company led by Nevada gambling tycoon Larry Woolf. The company is reported to be starting construction on a US$50 million 5-star resort in January as part of a plan to win Taiwan's first casino license. The land deal will complete an eight-year process to purchase property on Penghu, which the company plans to use for a 1,000-room hotel and casino. The hotel is expected to be completed by the end of 2009.

Ashley Hines, executive director of Isle of Man-based Amazing Holdings said last week in Taipei: “We expect to complete the purchase of the last of 102 pieces of land very soon. Construction of the hotel will begin in January, which could be converted to a casino if we get a gaming license.” Hines added that the company expects the Taiwan government to legalize casino gaming within six months.

Amazing Holdings CEO Larry Woolf is betting on his outfit introducing casinos to Taiwan while Las Vegas rivals Steve Wynn's Wynn Resorts and Sheldon Adelson's Las Vegas Sands Corp expand into the Macau and Singapore markets. Woolf's Navegante Group Inc manages at least seven casinos in the US, including the Plaza Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and the Casino Fandango in Carson City, both in Nevada. Amazing stock has gained 27% since their December 2005 listing. (E-09.04.07)
