The 9th edition of FADJA in Bogotá closed with a tempting glimpse of things to come. Next year will be the 10th Anniversary of the Andean Gaming Show and special events are in the pipeline. There is also the next Business Round in July, this one taking place in Monterrey, Mexico. FADJA 2007 saw visitors arrive from five continents, around 2,500 each day. Once again the gaming show in the capital of Colombia became the engine for the industry in the region.
Corferias, the exhibition centre, was the scene of gaming professionals seeking the latest developments presented by the manufacturers and service providers to the gaming industry. The support of the event provided by the associations and institutes ensured its success, making FADJA a comprehensive showcase for business in the Andean region with its vibrant gaming market. According to organiser Jose Anibal Aguirre, equipment worth some US$6 million brought into the Duty Free Zone had been sold at the fair, apart from contracts being signed.
First time exhibitors and members of the press were impressed by the show’s organisation and the rapid expansion of Colombia’s gaming industry. The country has well-defined gambling legislation which is promoting growth in the sector. Dates for next year’s FADJA exhibition are as yet uncertain as the Corferias site will be undergoing remodelling in 2008. An announcement is expected at the Mexican Business Round on 12 July.
