Steve Wynn to advise Aruze Corp on planned casino resort

US$2.4 BILLION PROJECT IN PHILIPPINES

Under the full guidance of Steve Wynn the Aruze Corp, the Japanese Pachislot & Pachinko machine manufacturer and largest shareholder of Wynn Resorts Ltd, is seeking to commence operation of a casino resort in the Philippines. The company announced last week that a project team has been established to secure personnel with ‘rich knowledge and experience’ to ensure a successful operation.

Aruze has received a positive reception from the government for its concept for a casino resort complex in the Bagong Nayong Pilipino Manila Bay Tourism City, and is to proceed with its plan to acquire a 40 hectares plot on the area of reclaimed land designated for development as a tourist city. The company’s project includes a casino hotel, aquarium, sports facilities, Ferris wheel, and commercial facilities.

Between the end of May and the end of July Aruze expects to secure the site and be granted a provisional licence. Construction should begin around January next year with the 250 billion JPY (US$2.4 billion) complex opening around April 2010. The company says it will issue further details of the project once the purchase of the site and the acquisition of the licence has been confirmed. (E-04.30.08)
