In the Philippines the Department of Tourism has approved a multi-million dollar investment for a tourism and gaming centre on 43 hectares within the Aseana Business Park in Parañaque. The Manila Bay Tourism and Leisure Corp and listed online gaming company PhilWeb Corp are proposing a project that will include a world-class shopping centre, restaurants, entertainment facilities, hotel and casino. PhilWeb has held an agreement with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR) since 2002 for providing online sports betting services.

The project will be located within the planned PAGCOR Entertainment City along the shore of Manila Bay. It is the second such development to be endorsed, following one in the Poro Point Special Economic and Freeport Zone last year for an estimated PHP44 billion (US$946.2 milllion). The Manila Bay project will cost in the region of PHP25 billion (US$537.6 million). Aseana Business Park is being developed as the new central business centre for Parañaque and has already attracted several top name companies.

The entertainment, residential and leisure district of Aseana Business Park is located at the centre of the ongoing development. Neo Chinatown is a revitalisation of Metro Manila’s Binondo Chinatown area, a one-stop mall envisioned to be the new shopping destination for Chinese products and services. The Bagong Nayong Pilipino (PAGCOR) Entertainment City on reclaimed land close to the international airport will be a Las Vegas style development that it is hoped will make it one of Asia’s entertainment capitals.
