Laying down the red carpet in Swansea

ASPERS CASINO OPENS

The red carpet is down, bordered by 7ft gas flames, and the spotlights are at the ready. A £75,000 bash has been organised to celebrate the opening of the new £13 million Swansea casino at Salubrious Place. Celebrities from the world of sport and showbiz, as well as local dignitaries and businessmen, will be present for the themed event taking place this evening.

The casino has over 45,000sq ft of gaming floor and employs 300 people. Staff have been trained to recognise problem gamblers and take appropriate action. Aspers Casino has 21 gaming tables, slot machines and electronic roulettes, as well as a 100-seat Poker Room. Swansea was awarded one of the sixteen new licences presently in limbo, but Aspers was licensed under the former legislation. According to the company, the new Aspers Casino will bring a new world of entertainment to Swansea.

Richard Noble, general manager of Aspers Swansea said: “We are very excited about the ‘new world of entertainment’ that Aspers will be bringing to Swansea as well as the multi-million pound investment the development represents for the city.” He added, “Personally, as general manager of Aspers it will be a challenging role which I am very much looking forward to. I am confident that Aspers, with its proven track record in Newcastle, will quickly establish itself as “the place to be” for a night out in Swansea.”

On offer to customers will be fine dining, a bistro, weekend cabarets, regular live acts, a cocktail bar and light snacks. There is even a beauty salon and a nail bar. It is intended that Aspers is a place where people go to enjoy themselves, not just gamble. The new entertainment complex at Salubrious Place has capacity for 1,600 people, an iPod lounge, and 28 multimedia screens. The gaming, of course, is state-of-the-art. (E-09.06.07)
