Bally Technologies, which yesterday announced record earnings on record revenue of US$247 million and US$900 million for the three and twelve months ended 30 June 2008 respectively, this week named a Director of Mexico Sales and Operations and a Director of International Gaming Operations.
Carlos Engel will be based at the company’s Mexico City office and will manage Bally’s expanding sales activities and market-development strategies throughout the country. Prior to joining Bally, Engel worked for Acuity Brands Lighting in Atlanta, Ga., where he was the international market development manager for that company’s Lithoni Lighting Division. In that capacity, Engel was responsible for managing an $18 million sales portfolio encompassing the countries of Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. Previously, Engel was a professional tennis player on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour, appearing at both the French Open and Wimbledon. He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English.
Bally Technologies also announced the appointment of Timothy G. Spatharos as Director of International Operations. Spatharos, who will be based at the Company’s Las Vegas corporate headquarters, will be responsible for managing Bally’s global gaming operations, including supervising game installs, managing service-related issues, and supporting the Company’s international sales activities and gaming operations. Spatharos previously served as Bally’s Director of Outbound Logistics. Prior to joining Bally, Spatharos was President of TEFTEC Corporation, a national manufacturer of customized, high-end powered wheelchairs. He also held various executive positions with Invacare Corporation, a major manufacturer of wheelchair products; Roadmaster/DP FTube Corporation, a manufacturer of fabricated tubular assemblies for a variety of industrial applications.
