Playboy Enterprises’ licensing activities include multifaceted location-based entertainment venues. The first such venture, opened in 2006, is at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, where a boutique casino and lounge, nightclub, retail store and sky villa hotel suite are Playboy branded. In 2007 a joint venture was announced with Macao Studio City for a similarly Playboy branded entertainment destination. This project, originally expected to be completed in 2010, is presently on hold while financing is sought by its owners.

It has been reported that Playboy is investigating the possibility of opening a casino in Montenegro. The announcement was made by co-owner of the Hotel Splendid in the city of Becici, a tourist resort on the Adriatic. At the Vienna economic forum in April 2008, Dr Branko Jovanovich, President of Lottery of Montenegro, stated that the company, as a leader of gaming in the country, was ready for cooperation with interested parties for further development of the gaming industry. The Hotel Splendid casino development is said to be a partnership between Lottery of Montenegro, Playboy and the company Jack Pot.

The report claims that the Hotel Splendid will house a temporary casino, which could open as early as June, and that a new complex would be built adjacent to the hotel with a bigger casino, nightclub and other entertainment facilities. It is understood that Playboy representatives have already visited Montenegro and that the US company will become a major shareholder in the two Montenegro companies, although Playboy Enterprises usually supplies brand and trademarks as well as marketing support, and venture partners supply project funding. There was no mention of the project in Playboy’s annual report filed 13 March 2009.
