Following straight on from G2E in Las Vegas, the 3rd International Conference on Gaming Industry and Public Welfare will be held in Beijing, China from 17th to 19th November 2006. The highly relevant and topical theme for this year’s conference is ‘Gaming in Asia: Challenges and Opportunities.’ Joint organizers of the event are the China Center for Lottery Studies at Peking University, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Institute for Tourism Studies and the Macao Tourism and Casino Career Center.
In December last year the conference was held in Sanya Province and the theme was gaming management control and surveillance systems in the light of technological developments. Since then the gaming industry has continued to grow and innovate, with Macau the centre of much activity. The conference organizers are keen to foster the healthy development of the gaming industry in China, including Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and Taiwan. They also wish to provoke high quality research in gaming and the gaming industry.
True to its title, the international conference will be discussing the issue of the gaming industry and public welfare as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the gaming industry in the Asian Pacific region. Other topics are the rôle of gaming in the overall recreation industry, applied probability statistics in the design of gambling games, prevention of negative impact such as crime and problem gambling, and the effect of the growing industry on tourist destinations.
