Casino project on Paraguay’s border at Salto del Guaira

BOLDT TARGETS BRAZILIAN MARKET

The Argentinean gaming operator Boldt, the major shareholder of Casino Tigre in Buenos Aires, has joined forces with Paraguayan operator American Gaming and fellow Argentine Worest from Corientes province in order to build a casino in Salto del Guaira. The waterfalls location is in Paraguay's North Western region, on the frontier with Brazil.

The investment, which first has to be approved by the Paraguay government, targets the huge Brazilian market, where gambling is not licensed. All three companies associated in the new venture are casino operators, with several properties in Argentina and Paraguay.

According to local media Ambito Financiero, Boldt said that the intention is to follow on proven marketing campaigns to Brazilians. Junkets are already run from profitable Brazilian cities to casinos such as the Casino Iguazu on the Paraguay-Argentina and Brazil borders and the Conrad Casino in Uruguay's Punta del Este.

In association with Spanish Group Peralada, the largest operator in the Catalunya region, earlier this year Boldt opened the first casino hotel in the city of Melincue in Argentina's Santa Fe province. (E-12.12.07)
