In a conversation with the president of Boss Gaming, a European manufacturer of gaming devices, Linda Monzon told us that the creation of its subsidiary Boss Gaming America in Colombia was considered the best way to position the company in the Latin American gaming market. In Argentina, at the exhibition SAGSE Buenos Aires on 11 – 13 October, Boss Gaming has a large stand where it will demonstrate its excellent electronic roulettes.

Last night we received confirmation of the success of initiatives undertaken by Peru’s President Alan Garcia to incorporate Chile into the Andean Community (Comunidad Andina de Naciones), after an absence of 20 years. Linda Monzon commented that Chile’s incorporation would bring advantages to the gaming industries of member countries because of preferential tariff treaties.

As Colombia is an Andean Community member, the decision of Boss Gaming to locate a factory in Bogotá to supply the region is a good one. The company, headquartered in Britain, entered the Latin American market less than a year ago by exhibiting at gaming shows. During this year’s exhibition in Lima, Peru last month, the company was overwhelmed with orders that came from around the world, from Argentina to Viet Nam.

Following that show, Linda Monzon had to return to headquarters to reorganise Boss Gaming’s production schedule for 2007, as the entire 2006 production had been placed over the two days of the show. She said, “Knowing of the efforts to incorporate Chile in the Andean Community and the moves in Peru to order the gaming industry there, we started to investigate the possibilities of opening a factory in South America, and chose Bogotá.”

The decision by Boss Gaming to place the centre of its Latin American operations in Bogotá was doubtless assisted by an order for 50 units from the leading Colombian gaming operator. After the SAGSE event in Buenos Aires, the company will be sending one of its electronic roulettes for homologation in Peru so that it can commence filling the numerous orders it has for operations in that country.
