SAGSE-Centroamerica a magnet for business

A GROWING PRESENCE

It might have been only the second SAGSE-Centroamerica show but figures demonstrate its continued success and the growing importance of the Panama exhibition. Visitors, up 25% from the inaugural event in 2005, came from around the world to the Atlapa Convention Center on 25 and 26 May, but principally from Latin America where exhibitors were seeking to maintain and expand their markets. Europe was well represented by visitors from Austria, France, Italy, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. Japanese and Koreans were present from Asia.

The exhibition generated an important amount of business, both contracts and contacts for future deals. This has ratified SAGSE-Centroamerica as a leading gaming exhibition in the region, showing the growing commercial significance of Central America. During this year’s event the III American Congress of Gaming Regulators was held with the theme ‘Is there too much or too little gaming regulation in Latin American countries?’ Regulators attended from many countries including Aruba, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Uruguay. There were also representatives of several national casino associations present.

SAGSE-Centroamerica 2007 will take place in Panama on 7-8 June, reaffirming it as ‘the heart of gaming business.’ Already confirmed for the third annual show are international companies such as WMS, Atronic, Aristocrat, GPI, Ainsworth, EGT, KSI and Belatra. Panama’s Association of Gaming Administrators (ASAJA), Institute of Tourism (IPAT) and Gaming Control Commission have confirmed their official sponsorship of the exhibition next year. (E-06.06.06)
