Harbour area chosen for project

CASINO FOR CASTELLON

The Costa Azahar of the Castellón province of Valencia in Spain has 120km of beautiful beaches very popular with tourists. The interior of the region is the second most mountainous in Spain and the whole area is unique for its traditions and culture. The capital of the province, Castellón de la Plana offers 14km of beaches with hotels and restaurants, water sports, golf courses, a planetarium and one of the most modern ports on the Mediterranean. The authorities in Valencia have recently approved the construction of a casino, and the harbour area of Castellón is a possible future site for it.

Sometime this week, after Valencia’s Minister of Economy has signed the order for a tender, the terms will be published and interested companies will have three months in which to bid. The submitted proposals will be considered in November before a decision is made. The authorities require project details of the economic impact a casino would have, the employment it would create, additional services offered and the total amount of the investment. There has been no minimum investment established but it is expected that the capital required would be some US$8 million.

For a number of years a casino licence for Castellón has been sought unsuccessfully. Now it appears that the harbour area of Castellón de la Plana will be a top contender for a casino as the Gaming Commission of Valencia is said to favourably support the proposal. The Casino Castellón may soon be a reality.
