Chile’s gaming show at the Espacio Riesco Convention Centre in Santiago opened yesterday. The exhibition and conference ChileCasinos Entertainment & Business is open to the public until Thursday, 7 December and at a ribbon-cutting ceremony this year’s event was launched in style by Horacio Rosas, GM of Espacio Riesco; Francisco Panisello, GM of ChileCasinos Entertainment & Business; and William Eadington, Professor of Economics and Director of the Institute for the Study of Gambling and Commercial Gaming at the University of Nevada.
The international conference was launched by Francisco Leiva, Chile’s Superintendent of Casinos, and a panel of experts included William Eadington and Hermann Pamminger, head of Corporate Relations and Consumer Affairs at Casinos Austria International. William Eadington commented, “Casinos represent an economic boost for a region, not only from tourism but also from the economic input by operators, generating tremendous extra value for the zone and surrounding areas.”
Hermann Pamminger led a discussion entitled Responsible Gaming and Gaming Addiction. He explained, “A visit to a casino should be a pleasant experience, an exciting activity, but for a few it can be problematic. For this reason casino employees should be well trained to recognize and help those with gambling problems. Chile cannot lag behind in this.”
Today’s event will be attended by operators and business men from the regions of Chile and countries such as Peru, Argentina, the United States and Austria. Joining William Eadington on the panel will be Robert Schrader of Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) and Hugh Monypenny, one of the founders of BMM Testlabs, as will President of Achmart Jorge Maino and President of Hotelga Hernan Lewin.
