Las Vegas led the way by bringing art galleries to its casinos and today the organizers of the Peru Gaming Show (PGS) 2006 have, with great imagination, brought to their gaming industry exhibition examples of an ancient culture to be seen alongside the new technologies. The latest archeological discovery in Peru, that of Caral-Supe, is being presented to show visitors at the Jockey Plaza Convention Centre.
The Caral-Supe civilization has been dated to over 5,000 years ago and is one of only six around the world that changed a way of life to form states and cities. Starting about 2600 B.C., Caral in the Supe Valley 120 miles north of Lima had a complex highly-structured society that flourished at the time the pyramids were being built in Egypt. The discovery has led to a re-evaluation of the rise of the earliest civilizations in the New World. Caral is not only the oldest city in the Americas but also third overall after Mesopotamia and Egypt, followed by China and Egypt.
In contrast to the incredibly old is all the innovative state-of-the-art gaming equipment at PGS 2006. The companies exhibiting their wares at this year’s show are too numerous to mention but include ACE A&G CO., IGT, ARISTOCRAT, STAR GAMES, RECREATIVOS FRANCO, NOVOMATIC, BELATRA, BOSS GAMING, GOLD CLUB, INTERVISION, MERKUR-MGA, ANDITECH, BRAND X, FAR SYSTEMS, ORION GAMING, GATE PLUS, DIGI DEAL, DEK INTERNATIONAL, ELO TOUCH, CORTAR, WH-ORT, PRECISION, MONEY CONTROLS, SUZO/HAAP CONTROLS, LOGIC GAMES, IMAGINATION, ZERO LABS, CASINOS & GAMING SUPPLIERS, FAIR PLAY, RCT BRAZIL, VTI LAS VEGAS, LAB CERT and ALL GAMES.
In another first, organizers Casinos & Leisures are bringing a taste of the Colonial era to visitors, along with a modern online system making different aspects of the show visible on screens around the exhibition and available for installation on PCs. The themed show will transport visitors back to the time when Lima was the seat of the most important Virreinato in the Spanish colonies of South America. A Gastronomic Festival will bring the renowned flavours of Peruvian cuisine to the exhibition. PGS 2006 is set to be a triumph in more ways than one. (E-08.03.06)
