Last November DEQ Systems (DEQ) won Nevada approval for commercialisation of its products, one of the company’s fundamental objectives for its long-term success. DEQ, based in Quebec, is the holder of 5 patents recognized in 54 countries and has an installed base of 500 systems in 130 casinos in 45 countries. The company’s core business is its Multi-Betting Side Betting Systems for casino card tables but it is moving into slot machine management and operations as well as lottery management and operations.

Yesterday DEQ announced the appointment of a new marketing director, Francis Letourneau, to further its plans to increase sales in the US market. Market penetration strategy, enhancement of brand recognition and intensification of global marketing activities will all be focus points for his efforts. DEQ is recognized as a worldwide provider of electronic auxiliary systems to compliment and enhance existing gaming tables.

Another announcement made yesterday concerns an agreement entered into with DEK International (DEK) of Panama, which will give DEQ a 52% participation in Severn Enterprises S.A., a company with gaming operations in Guatemala. DEK was established a decade ago and has become a leader in the field of research and development of revenue-generating gaming products for the international market. The agreement is subject to due diligence and the finalizing of various related agreements but DEQ will be required to pay US$400,000 if it pulls out for no valid reason. (E-07.22.05)
