Frank J Fahrenkopf Jr the star of SAGSE

“I love Buenos Aires”

Closing the programme on the first day of the ey!09 conferences at SAGSE Buenos Aires 2009, Frank J Fahrenkopf Jr was the star of the day. Before beginning his dissertation on ‘The present situation of the global gaming industry’ the president of the American Gaming Association thanked Giorgio Gennari, president of the show organizers Monografie SA, for his invitation to visit Argentina for the first time and attend the exhibition and congress. He then exclaimed, “I love Buenos Aires!”

He went on to say that for a long time the AGA had admired the SAGSE shows and that he was very pleased to have met Giorgio and his talented team. “The members of the AGA have realized that Latin America is a very powerful market.” He added that Latin America was positioning itself as the third largest gaming market in the world, after the US and Asia, with Brazil close to approving a new law that could see some 1,000 bingos with slot machines opening in 2010.

Agreeing that the progress of the gaming industry in Mexico was still uncertain, Fahrenkopf said that revenue in countries such as Argentina and Chile continued to rise and that the main manufacturing members of the AGA now had a physical presence in the region. He closed his speech by saying that the gaming sector uniquely insists on the application of rules and regulations to maintain its integrity, where responsible gaming is a key element to the future prosperity of the industry. “The future is bright!” (E-10.01.09)
