The Gaming Standards Association (GSA) has announced that since reaching consensus on three major points last January it has made significant progress in developing the new Game-to-System (G2S) standard. The group now enters a 30 day review and comment period after releasing the protocol’s core classes to its membership. G2S consists of over twenty classes, including a small number of core classes that will be required to be implemented by all gaming devices.
Russ Ristine, VP of Radical Blue Gaming and Facilitator of the G2S Merger Team, said “Work on the core classes is basically finished, and the group will now be turning its attention to administrative classes, which allow operators to automatically configure machines on the gaming floor from a central server, rather than at each individual game.” He added, “One of the compelling features of G2S is the ability to automatically configure the floor from a central location. This is one of the features that will drive operators to encourage manufacturers to develop games on the G2S platform.”
Apart from the core classes the other applications provide administrative functions such as printer control, voucher usage and player tracking capabilities. Jim Morrow, VP of Advanced Development, Bally Technologies Inc. and Chair of the G2S Committee, said, “The regulator community, including Nevada, New Jersey, Ontario, GLI and states represented by GLI, are very interested in following GSA and the G2S protocol because it provides consistency across manufacturers, which increases speed of approvals.”
GSA is an international trade association, representing gaming manufacturers, suppliers, operators and regulators, which facilitates the identification, definition, development, promotion, and implementation of open standards to enable innovation, education, and communication for the benefit of the entire industry. Its members represent a wide cross-section of the global gaming industry, including most major gaming manufacturers and service providers. (E-03.28.06)
