In April Rank Group announced it had completed the acquisition of the casino at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry from Isle of Capri. The Group’s Grosvenor Casinos division would re-launch the casino under its G Casino brand following a £1million redesign, the eighth G Casino in Rank’s portfolio of 33 UK casinos.

At the time Phil Urban, managing director of Grosvenor Casinos said: “In recent years we have successfully broadened the appeal of our business through the development of the G Casino brand, offering customers a grown-up leisure experience based on entertainment, gaming, fun and hospitality. I am excited at the prospect of bringing G Casino to Coventry as part of the superb Ricoh Arena.”

Although Grosvenor Casinos has been managing the Coventry operation since April, the G Casino is to be re-launched on 29 October with a 1980s nostalgia night Back to the Future. Over 1,000 VIP guests have been invited for the occasion and large games of Scalextric and Connect 4 will be part of the entertainment. Tribute band So 80s will be playing popular tracks from the times in the Lady G’s bar.

The GM of Coventry’s G Casino, Paul Davies, says, “We are proud to have opened the G Casino at the Ricoh Arena and the £1.6 million investment underlines our commitment to making this a big success. We have been delighted with the welcome that we have been given by our customers and city businesses and the official re-launch is to let everyone know throughout the region that we have arrived at the Ricoh Arena.” (E-10.07.09)
