In 2006 the regional government of the Valencia Community decided to adjudicate the casino of the city of Castellón (province of Castellón de La Plana in Spain) to the Orenes-Franco group. The decision in favour of the Orenes-Franco project was based on the financial guarantees and management development plan presented by the company, and the quality of the seafront premises. At that time the opening of the new ‘Gran Casino Puerto Azahar de Castellón‘ was planned for January 2007 but the casino in fact opened its doors this month on May 15th.

Over €20 million has been invested in the Castellón project, money spent on creating a new casino and other facilities where only the highest quality materials were used in the construction and decoration. The gaming floor offers 2 French roulettes, 8 American roulettes, 3 blackjack tables, a punto banco table and various poker tables. 75 state-of-the-art slot machines provide ergonomic comfort for clients.

The Gran Casino Castellón Puerto Azahar has three restaurants, two of them of ‘cuatro tenedores’ standard and a bar. A multi-purpose 400-seat theatre is available for concerts and plays, and there is a convention room and exhibition hall. Around 80,000 people are expected to visit the casino annually and 150,000 the conference and other facilities.

Tomorrow will be the gala inauguration of Gran Casino Castellón. Nearly 1,500 guests have been invited to attend the event, including well-known actors and bullfighters. There will be performances from singers such as David Civera and Alejandro Abad and the evening’s entertainment will culminate in a firework display. (E-05.29.08)
