As it marked 10 years of service to
Latin America, Gaming Laboratories International, together with GLI South
America, recently hosted nearly 40 regulators from across the region
at the first Latin American Regulator’s Roundtable and New Technology
Workshop. Regulators from Argentina, Chile, Panama, Paraguay and Peru
were in attendance. The event coincided with the SAGSE and MAGIA
tradeshows, and GLI had a strong presence at both events.
The Roundtable took place in the official facilities of the Provincial
Institute of Lottery and Casinos of the Province of Buenos Aires in La
Plata City, Argentina, which is the Regulatory agency in the
jurisdiction of the Province of Buenos Aires.
Luis Alberto Peluso, president of the Provincial Institute of Lottery
and Casinos of the Province of Buenos Aires, said, "It is very
important to be able to share the experiences with other Regulators of the
country and Latin America and make advances regarding the control and
certification of electronic devices that are keep advancing together with
the new technologies."
Presenting at the roundtable were staff from GLI South America and GLI
North America. Topics included the role of the laboratory, tutorial on
slot machines, roulette, table games, mathematics, RNGs, systems, field
inspections and new technology including downloadable and server
games, among others.
GLI Manager Latin America/Spain Development Karen Sierra-Hughes said,
"For the past 10 years, GLI has been working closely with Latin
American regulators, and we are thrilled with the incredible response we had
at our first roundtable. We are grateful to the support they have given
to GLI over the past 10 years, and we are firmly committed to this
region of the world."
GLI South America Director Javier Diaz said, "Regulators expressed
their happiness with GLI lecturers’ technical knowledge. This was the
first event of its kind they had attended, and they were very pleased to
have the opportunity to receive training and insight on state of the
art on gaming technology, and in knowing the experience of on line
control systems already implemented."
Since being accredited as the first independent certification
laboratory in Peru more than 10 years ago, GLI has concentrated its efforts to
serving clients in the region. GLI currently works with regulators and
government agencies in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Panama and Peru. GLI
also services numerous countries in the Caribbean.
Next up for GLI is the Global Gaming Expo this November, where GLI team
members will appear on five panels. GLI's 8th annual North American
Regulators Roundtable is slated for March 2009. (E-11.05.08)
