GPI’s emphasis at SAGSE this year will be on live presentations of readers, casino currency control and table management applications, and notably the new PokerRFID table. GPI's poker table display will feature an embedded reader capable of instantly counting up to 800 chips and calculating both the total value of the pot and the operator's commission.
Also on show will be a cage reader which gives cashiers an easy and efficient tool to minimize human error and check the validity of the chips redeemed by the customers. This system will be connected to the new Video Interface Unit, which allows the display on camera monitors of the chip totals placed on the RFID Cage reader.
GPI is not just about RFID technology and the group will also present the new line of plaques and jetons for 2008 and gaming chips with high security holograms. “We expect the visit of our customers from the Conosur and Andean region, we already have several casinos equipped with RFID chips and readers and we are sure that more casinos will follow that path” said Nicolas Dienot, Area Sales Manager for GPI.
As one of the oldest suppliers in the region, Dienot added: “Indeed, we have been very active in Central and South America since 1979 when we completed our first chip sales to Casino Vina del Mar in Chile. Our Bud Jones and Paulson chips have been extremely popular, while countries like Argentina, Uruguay and Chile have a long tradition of European-style casinos, making the B&G plaques, jetons and chip their favourite.”
As one of the highest calibre professionals in the region, Dienot was pleased to confirm relate the current progress of GPI in the region: “With over 100 casinos, Argentina is the most mature and dynamic market so it came as no surprise when we delivered our first order of 125 KH RFID chips in South America to Casino Melincue in June last year. Since then, we have supplied RFID chips to other operators in various countries such as Argentina, Chile, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago.
“Sales of RFID chips, readers and operating software, particularly of the 125 KHz range, have been buoyant over the last few months. Argentina : GPI supplied the soon-to-opened Santa Fé casino with 125 KHz RFID chips and plaques Chile : Various casinos equipped with our three brands of chips Paulson, Bud Jones and B&G as well as with plaques.
“Panama : Crown Casino (Codere Group) will deployed in September a total re-chipping with Bud Jones chips with high denominations fitted with 125 KHz RFID Trinidad & Tobago : We are currently completing an order for 125 KHz RFID Paulson chips with RFID hardware such as 10 Tabletop and 2 Cage readers while the casino is also looking at our ECS detection gates 125KHz-enabled.
