A right royal feast in the Havana

THE GOLDEN MILE

The incredible year-round sunshine and warmth of Durban in Kwazulu-Natal make it a favourite tourist spot for South Africans and foreign visitors alike. The beaches are a great attraction and there is plenty of entertainment and nightlife along the length of the so-called Golden Mile.

The Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World is on Suncoast Boulevard, part of Durban’s Golden Mile. Run by Tsogo Sun Gaming, it has one of the five casino operating licences held by the company in South Africa. Montecasino (Fourways, Johannesburg), Emnotweni (Nelspruit), Hemingways (East London) and The Ridge (Witbank) are the other four. The Suncoast has 7,000 sq m of gaming floor with 50 table games and 1250 slot machines, plus restaurants and bars.

A famous but unannounced guest apparently visited the Havana Restaurant at the Suncoast Casino on the evening of December 7th. Having made a reservation under the name Bradley it seems that Prince Harry, complete with baseball cap, girlfriend and another couple, graced the restaurant with their presence. Other diners either did not realize who it was at the table, or decided to let the prince enjoy his evening uninterrupted.

The group arrived at the restaurant around 8pm and spent three hours there. Prince Harry is reported to have been drinking vodkas and Red Bulls, and to have ordered steak. He left the restaurant at about 11pm, half-an-hour before the other members of his group. There are no reports of the prince popping in to the casino for a quick punt.
