Hit Group is the largest tourist-services company in Slovenia and is part of a possible joint venture with Harrah’s Entertainment to develop a large casino resort in Nova Gorica, close to the border with Italy. The Group produces over 17% of the foreign exchange flow from Slovenia’s tourist industry and, according to its development strategy, proposes to become one of the largest providers of tourist services in Europe. Earlier this week Hit presented its third-quarter report, claiming to have beaten all expectations for the first nine months of 2006.
Twenty years ago Hit was a small F&B company and now the Hit Group ranks among the largest entertainment providers in Europe. With large development projects underway – expansion of the Perla hotel casino and renovation of the Park entertainment centre – Hit still reported a better than expected 4.5% rise in gross revenue. Gross operating profits from gaming increased by 5.6%. The Group operates ten land-based casinos and Hit Stardust is the Group’s Interactive division registered in Curaçao, Netherland Antilles.
The Perla Casino & Hotel in Nova Gorica is the largest Hit operation. Table games include American (28) and French (1) roulette, no-limit Chemin de Fer (2), mini and midi Punto Banco (2+2), BlackJack (14), Let it Ride Poker (2) and HIT Draw Poker Progressive (10). It also has more than 1,000 tokenless (TITO) slot machines. The new hotel section of the Perla gaming and entertainment centre, is scheduled to open next month and will offer guests 150 top-quality rooms plus a new convention centre.
Operating under the trademark ‘hit universe of fun’ the Group states that its major investments are proceeding according to plan. Construction on a new gaming and entertainment centre in Sentilj will begin in early 2008. The company is owned by Slovenian municipalities and government and employs around 2,500 people. In April this year Hit reportedly acquired its first South American properties in Lima, Peru. (E-11.16.06)
