Tomorrow the 2009 G2E Asia Visionary Award will be presented to Dr Stanley Ho at G2E Asia prior to his opening keynote speech. As a pioneer of Asian gaming, Dr Ho helped lay the foundation for gaming in Macau as well as encourage tourism development in the region. As the Managing Director of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (SJM) and Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau, S.A. (STDM) his business interests extend from Macau, Hong Kong, China and Portugal to across the globe and cover a spectrum of industry sectors including gaming, hospitality, real estate, shipping, airport and airlines.

With his international profile, Dr. Ho has received a number of decorations and honours from governments around the world, including Portugal, Britain, France, Belgium, Spain, Japan, Malaysia and the Papal Insignia. However, this has not prevented New Jersey gaming regulators from naming his daughter Pansy Ho as an undesirable business partner for MGM Mirage because of her father’s ‘association with Asian organized crime,’ and despite the business relationship having been cleared by Nevada regulators. Dr Ho apparently dismissed the New Jersey report as ‘a joke’ and his daughter has said she is studying the report and will respond in due course.

The three-day conference at Global Gaming Expo Asia (G2E Asia) 2009 began today at the Venetian Macao with industry experts offering their unique insights during G2E Asia’s Global Markets Forum. The expo showcases new exhibitors, special events, unbeatable professional development opportunities and exclusive property tours. G2E Asia attendees will be among the first members of the public to experience the City of Dreams unique casino resort property first-hand.

Organized by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions, G2E Asia, formerly the Asian Gaming Expo, made its debut in June 2007, defining itself as the leading event for the gaming entertainment industry in Asia.
