Popular Asian game launches in Toronto

MAHJONG MANIA AND HOMAHJONG

The game of Mahjong, dating back over 2,000 years and played by millions of people, is similar to the game of rummy but traditionally played with ivory tiles that give accompanying sound affects. Mahjong is the most widely played ‘local’ game in Asia, particularly China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan, and amongst Asian populations worldwide. Mahjong Mania is a unique multiplayer online version of mahjong gaming software developed by a subsidiary of Events International Holding Corporation (EIH).

Tomorrow, at the annual Global Chinese Financial Forum in Toronto, Angela Ho, President of Ho Casinos, and EIH Chief Executive Albert Barbusci will launch the only Internet site devoted exclusively to a cash-wager version of Mahjong. The integration of Mahjong Mania into the online operation Homahjong will make it the first site to offer a ‘for money’ version of the popular game. Angela Ho, daughter of casino magnate Stanley Ho, is confident that her family’s extensive Asian gaming experience will enable the site to “attract a very substantial universe of Mahjong players.”

Attendees at the Chinese Investors Forum will be able to try out the new site at its launch. EIH will also use the forum to promote its potential as a Canadian-based, gaming software investment opportunity. As Albert Barbusci has said, "the launch of Homahjong.com represents an enormously important step for our company. We advance from a testing phase to the first live-play version of our game, making us unique in the gaming world and opening the way for the onset of licensing and share-of-rake revenues. Secondly, because the promotion of Homahjong.com will be targeted primarily to Asian audiences, this launch will move us closer to achieving our strategic objective of securing a major footprint in China."
