Launch of new facilities at Chile’s largest casino

Monticello Grand Casino to celebrate in style

It’s the start of the summer season in Chile and the Monticello Grand Casino next week (17 and 18 December) celebrates the grand opening of its new facilities with a 3D light show, firework display designed by international specialists, Marc Anthony performance and the presence of Jennifer Lopez. The casino, some 50 kilometres from the capital Santiago, is Chile’s largest and in the month of October produced 34.9% of the country’s casino revenue at US$8.14 million. GGR at the 15 casinos now operating was US$23.33 million.

With an investment of over US$30 million, the new 155-room 5-star hotel commenced operations this month and completes the third and final phase of the Monticello casino complex near Mostazal. Officially Monticello has been granted an extra year to conclude its programme to access the venue from the PanAmerica highway but in fact the construction has been completed and only awaits approval from the authorities for the traffic lines to be painted and signs to be erected.

Paseo Monticello, the second phase of the Monticello development, was inaugurated last month. It provides additional entertainment and restaurant facilities, including bowling, karting, children’s games under supervision and an information centre as well as the new convention and business centre. Major shareholder and casino operator Sun International anticipates a 20% increase in visitor numbers to 120,000 per month. (E-12.07.09)
