Huddersfield to get new entertainment venue

CASINO RED GRANTED LICENCE

Mostly known for its online gambling site, casinored.com, the rapidly growing gaming company Casino Red had been granted its first land licence in Huddersfield. Within six months the company hopes to open a new casino and entertainment venue at the old Princess Cinema on Northumberland Street, providing the town of Huddersfield with a leisure facility that should attract visitors from near and far.

The £5 million (US$10 million) development will offer four floors of entertainment with gaming, fine dining and live shows. The Princess Cinema, a well-known landmark in the town, is being sympathetically restored, with its domed ceiling to be complimented by a contemporary chandelier. Casino Red was formed in 2006 as a national casino entertainment company. The largest operator of European gaming networks, St Minver, operates the online gaming site casinored.com under a Gibraltar licence.

CEO of Casino Red is Nick Boyes-Hunter, who co-founded the Oldham-based integrated casino management systems company, the EndX Group. At the end of 2005 EndX was acquired by Las Vegas company Progressive Gaming International Corp. The Casino General Manager of Casino Red is Dov Haase, with 20 years’ experience in the industry in the UK and Europe. He previously spearheaded Leo Casino in Liverpool.

Commenting this week on Casino Red being granted a licence to operate, Nick Boyes-Hunter said that Huddersfield is a vibrant town with a thriving social scene, and that the company would develop a spectacular site. “Everyone associated with Casino Red is delighted to now have the opportunity to develop an entertainment venue that the town can enjoy.” He continued, “The decision means Casino Red will open the doors to its first land based site within six months, creating over 120 jobs and bringing £5 million investment to the town in the process.” (E-08.09.07)
