IAGA/IAGR IN BARCELONA

Final day of International Gaming Law conference

The 2006 International Gaming Law Conference draws to a close today in Barcelona, Spain. The four days of discussions and sessions with top regulators, CEOs and legal professionals has featured important issues such as Asian gaming and has had a special focus on the case for and against the legalisation of Internet gaming in the US.

The annual conference is held jointly by the non-profit professional corporation International Association of Gaming Attorneys (IAGA) and its sister organisation International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR). Regulators and lawyers from the industry and private practice meet with casino executives to discuss national and international developments in gaming law at the annual conference.

Today a panel will address ‘The Case For and Against Internet Gaming’ and a second panel will review ‘Private Equity Investment in Gaming.’ Both these topics have recently become particularly relevant to the global gaming community. Dan M. McDaniel, Jr, President of IAGA, describes this year’s annual conference as having, ‘a provocative program’ that includes ‘stimulating discussions and even some controversial topics! ‘ It is also a time to catch up with friends and colleagues as well as explore beautiful Barcelona.
