Peruvian slots leader extends presence at regional expo

IGT TO LAUNCH 15 NEW GAMES AT PGS 2006

International Game Technology (IGT) was the first major slots manufacturer to set up distribution offices in Lima, Peru over 10 years ago when gaming was first regulated. This gives the industry leader an ample first hand knowledge of the local and regional markets. As IGT gets ready to take part in the Peru Gaming Show - PGS 2006 - we asked Francisco Ledesma, head of Gaming & Technology for the company that represents IGT in Peru, to give us an insight into IGT's market outlook.

Could you tell us which products IGT will exhibit at PGS 2006?
FL: We will be exhibiting our 19" i-Game Plus slots with TFT monitor. The news in this instance is that we shall introduce to the local and regional markets a large number of new games. We'll be launching more than 15 games in this year's PGS, and this a clear example of our commitment to our clients in this country, who deserve the best we can offer to them. As you can see, IGT places great importance on the games.

How are your projections for the current year?
FL: As you know, this has been a difficult year for the gaming sector. Apart from having a general election in Peru, a number of slots rooms have been closed due to compliance with the new regulations. These factors have affected our current investments but, in spite of this, we have had a good year with sales of more than 1,000 machines. We have started operations in important neighbouring markets such as Colombia and Ecuador, and we expect to see the returns in the second half of the year.

Having exhibited every year at PGS, could you tell us about your past experience of the event?
FL: The main reason we exhibit is that we have been able to reach new clients, who were not available to us before. Many of our new clients have come through this event. My viewpoint is that PGS is very important for both exhibitors and operators, as we can have direct contact between us, especially those who wish to have access to the latest technological developments in the industry.

We know that IGT always has the latest developments in the industry, so is there anything else you would like to tell us about your presentation at PSG 2006?
FL: I expect that the best thing I can do is invite everyone to come to visit IGT on stand Q2 where, indeed, we'll be showing the latest IGT products in the industry for the Peruvian market. As distributors of Money Controls and Foster Chair, and they are just next door to us, we do offer operators integral solutions for their casinos and gaming halls. We are confident that PGS 2006 will be a quality event for the industry.
