ICE 2007 revisited and a fortune made

IGT MAKES ITS MARK

There were plenty of debutantes at this year’s London gaming show, companies showing their wares for the first time in this country, and the famous names of the gambling industry returned again with their latest products. One such company in the second category is the giant IGT, which presented ‘The Big Picture’ of gaming in all its emerging forms.

One hot topic is server-based gaming, and IGT showcasED ‘sb’ and its unique server-based gaming player and tournament applications and download demonstrations. The portal for all the server-based gaming possibilities that are on display is IGT’s Advanced Video Platform ‘AVP’ machine. Utilizing the recently adopted Gaming Standards Association G2S protocol, IGT featured connections, via its sbDirector and server, to WMS and Novomatic games.

“We are excited to share our vision for networked gaming applications via our sb™ Product offerings,” said Paulus Karskens, President of IGT’s International Division. “Adding Novomatic games in addition to WMS is yet another step toward expanding the universal connectivity of the sb™ product platform.”

The centrepiece of the IGT display was the multi-player station M-P Series that creates a whole new gaming experience for the player. The 23” LCD slant top machines offer innovative wagering features and high definition virtual game displays for multi-player roulette and baccarat. ‘AVP’ widescreen Multi-Level Progressives include new Wheel of Fortune and Indiana Jones, as well as Wolf Run, Super Happy Fortune Cat and Da Vinci Diamonds.

Since ICE 2007 closed last week, Wheel of Fortune has turned up trumps for one player in Reno, Nevada. A cheque for US$ 7,874,435 was handed to a player after his Wheel of Fortune Special Edition MegaJackpot progressive slot machine hit the jackpot. Inadvertently playing maximum bet at the Grand Sierra Resort Casino, a machine shop owner from Bucks County struck lucky. The largest ever payout from a Wheel of Fortune game was US$11.2 million in Las Vegas. IGT says the biggest ever payout made by one of its games was for US$39.7 million on a Megabucks machine.
