IMGL award goes to Chilean Superintendente de Casinos

Leiva elected Regulator of the Year

The organisation International Masters of Gaming Regulation (IMGL) recently selected the Chilean gaming control chief, Francisco Javier Leiva, as Gaming Regulator of the Year - Emerging Jurisdictions, a distinction that will be presented later this month on 25 October during the IMGL Autumn Conference. The awards luncheon, sponsored by Harris Hagan and Jeffrey Green Russell, will be at the Hesperia Madrid hotel between panel discussions and roundtable events.

In its official communication the IMGL President, Anthony Coles, stated that the award had been given to the Chilean gaming regulator because he was a person of the highest integrity who had given a valuable service to the gaming community with his work in the regulatory field, his significant contribution to the regulation of the industry and for his efforts ensuring a stable environment for his jurisdiction.

Superintendente Leiva says he appreciates the award bestowed on him by the IMGL. “My objective has been to apply the highest standards of regulation and control whilst promoting the development of the gaming industry and its consolidation as a sector relevant to the national economy. I believe this award is recognition of this and it is accepted on behalf of all those who work in the department.”

The IMGL, a non-profit association of gaming attorneys, regulators, educators, executives and consultants from around the world who are dedicated to education and the exchange of professional information concerning all aspects of gaming law, also will be presenting the IMGL Gaming Regulator of the Year – Europe Award to Morten Ronde, Head Legal Adviser, Danish Gaming Board.
