Dianne Cornwall, District Director-Office of Nevada and Congressman Jim Gibbons joined many manufacturers and operators in helping JCM American Corporation celebrate the opening of its new Reno, Nevada office. During the event, attended by friends from across the industry, Cornwall presented JCM with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition from Congressman Gibbons. The new sales and service office is located at 9410 Prototype Drive, Suite 22, in Reno and is staffed by full-time sales and service representatives. The office serves territories in Northern Nevada, Northern California, and all of Oregon and Washington. Rob Friedl is Sales Manager and Joe Chen is full-time Service Technician. JCM was recently honored by Casino Journal, which named the company’s UBA bill validator as one of the “Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products for 2004.”

On another front, JCM has disputed claims made against the company by a competitor, calling them baseless and says it intends to vigorously defend its position. MEI's parent corporation has filed a lawsuit against JCM-American and Japan Cash Machine Co., Ltd. for alleged patent infringement, claiming JCM's revolutionary new UBA (Universal Bill Acceptor) violates certain MEI patents. The UBA made its world premiere at Wynn Las Vegas in April and will make its Mississippi debut at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi in September. Both new properties exclusively chose JCM products for their casinos, including the UBA and the revolutionary ICB (Intelligent Cash Box).

These successes, plus across-the-board acclaim by the major OEM's in gaming, indicate the UBA has gained strong momentum. JCM has stated that this momentum will continue unabated, regardless of this frivolous attempt to slow it down. The company has prepared a letter detailing its position for all its clients. JCM Vice President for Gaming Solutions Tom Nieman said, "Given the media accolades and overwhelmingly positive OEM and operator acceptance the UBA has received, the court of public opinion has clearly found the UBA is simply a better product than those offered by competitors. We are confident the Federal Courts will find competitor's claims of patent infringement as unfounded as we do. JCM will continue to create leading currency solutions for the gaming industry and for all the industries we serve."
