An agreement signed in Santiago, Chile between the national lotteries of Spain (LAE) and Mexico (Lotenal) could see the launch of a future LatinoMillions in Latin America, in the style of the successful EuroMillions lottery operating throughout Europe. The agreement is for mutual collaboration between the two entities, to develop new products and projects.
The intent is for the national institutions to realise future lottery draws together but in accordance with the laws of both countries. Benjamín González Roaro, director general of Lotenal, commented that one of the advantages to be gained from working with LAE was that the great experience and success of the Spanish lottery would guarantee favourable results in the short term.
For his part the President of LAE, Don Gonzalo Fernández, recognised the long history of Lotenal, which was launched 239 years ago. He offered Lotenal the new technologies in use in Spain to support the Mexican lottery. A joint weekly lottery game is expected to commence soon. (E-10.28.09)
