Italian politicians support project for Rome

LATINA SEEKS CASINO

As reports suggest that the gaming reforms in Italy to authorize casino gambling are on track to become law in the not too distant future, the Vice Minister for Production Signore Adolfo Urso announced during the National Conference on Tourism in Genoa that he would be in favour of casinos opening in the country with the objective of increasing tourism.

Immediately after, the regional minister for the Province of Latina in Lazio, Signore Domenico Guidi proposed as part of his electoral campaign to open a casino in the seaside city of Latina saying that in the post industrial era, the province needed to develop new tools to develop the economy of the province though the tourist sector. When Signore Guidi was asked if he would try to turn Latina into another Monaco, he commented:

“This is not a new idea, within the scope of regional development a casino would probably give the province an economic impulse, as Latina is placed between Rome and Naples, and is in a position to receive the greater part of the tourist trade that comes to the region for the natural beauty the golden beaches of Sabaudia, the headland at Circeo, and why not the beautiful coast of Latina that is in the process of being renovated, which generally speaking encompassed the beauty of the region, without forgetting, of course, the Lepini Mount.”

It seems that the idea behind the casino project for Latina, apart from upgrading the surrounding area of the province, would broaden the economic development of the region not only with regards to the growth of hotel rooms, but also in support of the banking sector that has seen significant growth during the last few years, and it is in reference to this sector that the comparison with Monaco as a financial centre arises.

And is not that signore Guidi already sees himself virtually in the gaming salons with green baize tables all around him in the renovated hotel Europa in the centre of Latina, but according to him, he will propose the selection of his province as a casino destination to enhance the tourist trade into the winter months, instead of being purely a summer tourist attraction in this province south of Rome.
