Founded in 1968, the time of Great Britain’s first Gaming Act, Les Croupiers in Cardiff is to move from its city centre location. At present the casino runs a shuttle bus between 7pm and 7am to bring customers from secure free parking at Cardiff Rugby Ground, excluding the peak Fridays and Saturdays, as city centre parking is limited and expensive. With its relocation to a retail park in late November, parking will no longer be a problem.
Les Croupiers will be offering more than gambling at its new premises in the Capital Shopping Park. The venue will incorporate a Chinese Restaurant and sports bar to enhance the experience of customers who use the casino as a social meeting point, something a lack of room at the present premises prohibits. Les Croupiers offers the highest stakes in the region and plenty of gaming tables, electronic roulettes and video slot machines. There are 14 free to play Mah’Jong tables in a side room and a heated and covered roof terrace for smokers.
PMG, the owner of the retail park, is pleased that the well-known Welsh casino has chosen to move to its site. Already brand name tenants such as Marks & Spencer and Asda are there and very little space remains available for letting but Les Croupiers will extend the opening hours of the commercial centre and offer people more reasons to visit. Les Croupiers will cover 20,000 sq ft, half at mezzanine level, of the 462,000 sq ft retail park. (E-09.02.09)
