Century Casinos Inc owns and operates casinos in Colorado and Alberta in North America, the Czech Republic and on various cruise ships. Century Casinos Africa (Pty) Limited owns and operates the Caledon Hotel, Spa & Casino near Cape Town and has a 60% interest in the Century Casino Newcastle, also in South Africa. Another company subsidiary, Century Casinos Europe GmbH registered in Austria, holds a one-third interest in Casinos Poland Ltd, which has seven casinos and a slots operation in Poland.

The remaining two-thirds interest in Casinos Poland is held at present by airport operator PPL and the national airline LOT. Negotiations are underway to sell their share and Century Casinos is bidding to take full ownership. Other interested parties include Olympic Entertainment Group (OEG), believed to be the favourite contender. OEG operates casinos in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania, and Poland, and opened its first casino in Slovakia this month.

Casinos Poland holds over half (55.28%) the casino market in Poland and is also a recognised brand, with properties in prime locations. The company received the first casino operating licence in Poland and launched its first casino in 1989. It now offers the highest gaming limits in Poland. For both OEG and Century Casinos, Casinos Poland would seem to be an ideal purchase for further expansion. Century already hold ownership interest but OEG intends to become the leading casino operator in Central and Eastern Europe. (E-06.30.08)
