Madrid to recognise regional machine certification

Updating gambling regulation

According to a government spokesman, the Community of Madrid is to update its gaming machine regulations, which will be adapted to conform to the other Spanish regions. The renovation and modernisation of gaming machines will be allowed. The Community (Regional) and State laws, presently administered under two separate decrees, will be unified to regulate the exploitation of gaming machines and their technical characteristics.

Madrid now will recognise machine certification from other Spanish regional governments, meaning that manufacturers will no longer have to design different machine for different regions. Procedures also have been simplified, with prior authorisation to operate gaming machines eliminated. The new regulation requires notification of commencement to then be followed up by Administration checks. All restrictions on foreign capital have been lifted.

Maximum stake is €1, minimum stake is €0.20. Video slot machines will be allowed and AWP arcades are able to interconnect between machines and other arcades. The gaming machines can be installed in casinos, gaming arcades and bingo halls. Maximum prize for interconnected B3 machines is €18,000; maximum prize for B1 machines in food and beverage locations is €240.
