A weekend of entertainment in Uncasville, Connecticut

MOHEGAN SUN CELEBRATES 10 YEARS

Billed as one of the largest, most distinctive and spectacular entertainment, gaming, shopping and meeting destinations in the United States, this weekend the Mohegan Sun is celebrating in style. It is ten years since the Mohegan Tribe opened the doors of the Casino of the Earth in Uncasville, Connecticut. The now legendary destination has expanded to over 300,000 square feet of gaming floor, the Casino of the Sky, and a 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena for world-class sporting events and concerts.

The 10th Anniversary gala will feature stars from the worlds of music, sport, film and stage. Proceedings begin tonight at the intimate 400-seat Cabaret Theatre where Lily Tomlin will perform excerpts from “An Evening of Classic Lily Tomlin.” Country music star Keith Urbin will be centre stage at the Mohegan Sun Arena following his induction into the Walk of Fame at the casino earlier in the day. At the Wolf Den Kevin Costner and band will perform original rock songs.

Saturday entertainment starts with comedy – the cast of Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In will get together at the Cabaret Theatre and Jerry Seinfeldt and Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson will continue the comedy theme throughout the evening. The Boston Celtics will take on the New York Knicks in a pre-season basketball game at the Arena. Alternative-rock band Barenaked Ladies, very popular at the Mohegan Sun, will perform at the Wolf Den.

Over the last ten years Mohegan Sun has become a top destination for more than gambling. It offers a wide variety of sports and entertainment, first-class convention and meeting space, luxury hotel and spa. An announcement on further developments at the site is expected before the end of the year as Mohegan Sun looks forward to the next ten years. (E-10.20.06)
