The Casino Regulatory Authority of Singapore (CRA) is to collaborate with the National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Mathematics and Department of Statistics and Applied Probability to promote joint research and development activities in the area of mathematical research relating to casino gaming. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed yesterday at the 2nd CRA Gaming Technology Forum and witnessed by industry partners, comprising gaming manufacturers, suppliers and testing laboratories.
The MOU establishes a framework for greater collaboration between CRA and NUS in joint research projects on mathematical algorithms used in the gaming industry, especially in the area of gaming integrity. It also allows the CRA to tap on the expert views of mathematics professionals at NUS in areas relating to the specialist field of gaming mathematics. CRA Chief Executive Mr. T. Raja Kumar said that such knowledge is essential for CRA’s work in safeguarding the integrity of gaming in Singapore’s casinos.
“We are pleased to cement this partnership with the NUS Department of Mathematics and Department of Statistics and Applied Probability with this MOU, which will take us to the next level of collaboration. It also represents CRA's continual efforts to deepen our knowledge and enhance our regulatory oversight of Singapore’s casinos.”
Professor Andrew Wee, Dean of Science at the National University of Singapore added, “This collaboration with CRA will allow the NUS Department of Mathematics and Department of Statistics and Applied Probability to undertake joint research projects in the area of performance of mathematical analysis into different gaming models and types of games. We look forward to working closely with the CRA in this area. Our students will also benefit from opportunities for them to be attached to the CRA.” (E-01.21.11)
