Octavian International is a global gaming systems provider with an increasingly strong presence in Latin America. Since opening offices and computer centres in Argentina and Colombia some years ago, Octavian has built a loyal client base in these countries, as well as in Ecuador, Mexico, Panama and Peru. Now the company’s continued growth in what it describes as one of its most important markets has led to plans to open two further offices in this region within the next 12 months.

Since formation in 2001, Octavian has rapidly established itself as an independent global leader in the development, provision and support of innovative networked games and systems. Today the company numbers many of the world’s leading gaming operators amongst its customers, and is well established in other key gaming markets such as Europe and Asia-Pacific.

In particular, Octavian has developed a number of products with proven stability and reliability for wide area multi-site applications around the globe. These products include lotteries, VLT, wide area progressives, downloadable games technology as well as bespoke game development for slots, AWP, LPM, VLT and almost any gaming-related application.

A prime example of Octavian’s innovative systems solutions is its ACP (Accounting, Control, Progressives) slot management system. “The Octavian ACP system can deliver significant efficiency and revenue-generation benefits for operators of all sizes,” says José Paternostro, General Manager of Octavian Latin America. “Our ACP solution allows operators to link and control any number of gaming machines, either at a single venue, a handful of sites, or even across a national or international chain of gaming venues.”

The machines can be linked into one of Octavian’s sophisticated and secure computer centres and then monitored and controlled with ease. Alternatively, operators can choose Octavian’s ‘My ACP’ option, which allows the operator to locate the system servers and databases on their own premises – and then manage the complete system using their own IT staff, whilst still benefiting from ongoing system updates and support from Octavian.

‘My ACP’ has been a big success with operators in Latin America according to Paternostro, as it delivers a proven system that operators can quickly integrate into their own IT operations. “It’s this ability to tailor the system to meet an operator’s needs that has made our ACP system so popular,” says Paternostro, “… and also the ability to constantly extend the system with add-ons such as Cashless and Player Tracking, for example.”

Two new systems will be of particular interest to casino operators who need strict and efficient control of all reception and cash desk activities. Octavian GateManager and Octavian CashManager are open, modular systems developed to meet the demanding needs of casino operators in highly regulated gaming markets. Octavian GateManager and Octavian CashManager enable operators and their staff to take control of player registration and entry, player tracking, cashier management and accounting.

In addition, these new systems offer uniquely transparent control of bonuses and ‘complimentaries’, harnessed to the most comprehensive data exploitation tools for setting up, running and measuring marketing campaigns to customers. Paternostro is quick to point out that Octavian is not simply a systems developer, but also an expert creator and integrator of gaming content.

Another Octavian success story – combining Octavian’s systems and games development expertise – is the ExtraCash mini-jackpot and ‘staffless’ payout system. ExtraCash brings together groups of up to 14 gaming machines into highly competitive gaming hotspots, all under the control of an ACP system. The machines run Octavian’s acclaimed DreamGames titles and, optionally, a new Tournament add-on which allows customers to compete against each other for extra prizes.

Also generating great interest is Octavian’s flat-pack Maverick 1000 gaming machine and games kit. The revolutionary self-assembly design of the Maverick kit enables local machine manufacturers to market a state-of-the-art machine to operators for little more than the price of a pre-owned machine.
