Although low revenue is not helping the sale of Casino Termas de Chillan in Pinto, the ski city resort east of Chillan, it is likely that local leading casino operators Grupo Enjoy or Dreams will end up buying this small property. The sale is being handled by brokers Larrain Vial, who have a long relationship with Enjoy.
The two companies run 7 out of the 15 new casinos in Chile, which operate under the new Gaming Law. While Dreams owns and operates 4 casinos and Enjoy owns 3, both are in the process of building new casinos. These are in the cities of Chiloé (Dreams) and Coyhaique (Enjoy), and will open within 12 months.
The problem for the ski resort casino is that while in 2010 total gross gaming revenue from all new casinos in Chile was reported as US$317.34 million, and Monticello Grand Casino took 24.4% of the total at US$77.88 million, Casino Termas de Chillan’s share was 0.36% of the total at US $1.15 million, lagging last in the pecking order.
