The Aladdin Resort & Casino will remain open throughout the remodelling process that will finally see it emerge as the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The first phase of the renovations is scheduled to start next month, with final completion in the last quarter of 2006. A complete transformation and expansion of the casino floor has been designed, together with new nightclub, restaurants, retail outlets and other entertainment facilities. The property façade is also getting a new look, and a sleek new lobby and pedestrian plaza will dramatically enhance guest access.
Bringing Hollywood to Las Vegas has involved a design team that includes Dougall Design, Klai Juba Architects and M.J. Dean Construction, all well known in the field of mega casino resort development. Michael Mecca, president of the Hollywood Planet Resort & Casino said, “I have had the pleasure of working with Dougall Design, Klai Juba and M.J. Dean on other projects and I know that they are a winning combination.” A new Planet Hollywood Westgate tower will feature 1,000 multi-room timeshare, condominium and hotel units.
Robert Earl and Douglas Teitelbaum are co-chairmen of the joint venture partnership that includes Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and Bay Harbour Management. When renovations are completed the Aladdin property will be rebranded as the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, a Sheraton hotel. The venture has a pre-eminent location on The Strip and as Douglas Teitelbaum commented, “we are prepared to deliver to Las Vegas the ultimate destination for entertainment, shopping and gaming.” (E-09.14.05)
