Located in the listed building of the old Princess Cinema – closed 26 years ago - in Northumberland Street, Huddersfield, Casino Red yesterday opened its first land-based casino. In keeping with the importance of the event and with the name, the red welcome carpet was laid out and Red Carpet parties arranged for 7pm each evening from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 September. The £5 million casino conversion maintains the red theme with the Scarlet restaurant and the Ruby Lounge bar.

Casino Red covers fours floors – the basement houses a dedicated poker room and sports bar, the ground floor offers gaming tables and gaming machines. The Scarlet restaurant is in the mezzanine circle along with a separate circle bar and both overlook the gaming floor below. The gallery above houses the Ruby Lounge Bar and a private function room. The impressive domed ceiling of the old cinema has been restored.

Online gaming company casinored.com is the main sponsor of Huddersfield Town football club as well as one of the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League sponsors, so the name is well-known in the town.
