International Game Technology (IGT), a global leader in creating the major slot games players love and casino network systems that improve the player experience, received first place in the "Favorite Reel Game" category for its Double Diamond slots in Casino Player magazine's "Best of Gaming" awards for 2010. In addition, three more IGT games took top honours in the same category.

The Double Diamond theme was introduced in 1989 by IGT. With its introduction, IGT brought the concept of themed gaming machines to life. And since its first placement on the casino floor, Double Diamond slots have continued to be a favourite among players.

"IGT has a long and proud history of developing the very best slot themes and Double Diamond is a prime example of this," said Ron Rivera, IGT senior vice president of North America sales. "It is truly an honour that one of our games, that is over twenty years old, is still a player favourite."

Double Diamond reel slots remains popular for many reasons, including its fun and classic game play. The Double Diamond symbol matches any other symbol on the payline and doubles any corresponding award. Two Double Diamond symbols on the payline earns four times the standard award amount. And if three Double Diamond symbols land on the payline, the player wins the top award. According to Casino Player, Double Diamond is "a game that contributed a lot to the general popularity of the slot floor when it was introduced in the late 1980s, and has remained a player favourite ever since."

The popularity of Double Diamond also extends to IGT's MegaJackpots line where it is a common base game on a number of favourites including Wheel of Fortune. And, the latest addition to the Double Diamond family is Double Diamond Reel MultiPLAY, which features 3D graphics and gives players a chance to play their favourite game up to four times at once on one machine.

In addition to Double Diamond, three more IGT games were named in the Favourite Reel Slot category: Wheel of Fortune; Red, White & Blue; and Triple Diamond.

Wheel of Fortune offers players a chance to win big and is a constant favourite. With over US $2.5 billion in jackpots hit on Wheel of Fortune games, it continues to be on the top of players' lists year after year.

Red, White & Blue slots was also introduced in 1989 as one of the first themed slot games and benefits from the same longevity and following as Double Diamond. This classic spinning reel game comes in a number of varieties and denominations to fit any player's needs.

And finally, Triple Diamond rounds out the IGT reel slots winners. Another classic game, Triple Diamond offers players an entertaining gaming experience with classic symbols and slot play.

The 2010 'Best of Gaming' awards were conducted by Casino Player magazine. This is the 15th annual survey done by Casino Player to its readers on their favourite aspects of gaming. Along with casino games, the survey included polls on reader's favourite casinos, hotels, and amenities. (E-09.17.10)
