The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board yesterday reported that slot machine gross revenue increased by 11.49% this October over the same month a year ago. Slot machine play at 10 casinos produced gross revenue of $197,459,415 in October resulting in $107,995,234 of tax revenue returned to Commonwealth citizens. Taxes from slot machine play fund property tax reduction, supports the Commonwealth’s horse racing industry, finances economic development and tourism projects, and provides revenue to local governments and fire companies.

Rivers Casino, which saw a 33.18% rise in gaming revenue in October – the largest increase out of the nine casinos operating in both October 2009 and October 2010 – on Monday reported that it was named “Best Overall Casino” in Pennsylvania by Strictly Slots magazine’s readers. The casino took a total of 19 awards, as voted by readers in the “Best of Slots” annual poll, and received first-place honors in 13 categories. Among the other first place wins, Rivers was named:

Best $5+ Slots; Best Reel Slots; Best Progressive Slots; Best Quarter Slots; Best Video Poker; and Best Video Slots. Rivers was also voted as having the best entertainment, the best comps and the best variety of slots. It is said to be the casino where one feels the luckiest, to have the best buffet and to have the most innovative slots floor. A number of other second and third place honours were awarded to Rivers, including Best Nickel Slots and Best Penny Slots. Rivers Casino was also named “Best Overall Gaming Resort” in Pennsylvania by Casino Player magazine.

Rivers Casino is a top entertainment destination located on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. The casino offers 86 table games and approximately 3,000 slots. It has nine restaurants and bars, as well as live entertainment and daily gaming promotions.
