RWS to open with 500 gaming tables

‘More than just gaming’

The opening of Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore later this week is expected to attract the attention of gaming gurus around the world. It has been widely reported that the gaming floor mix will be aimed at the Asian market, on the lines of the Macau casinos. RWS is expected to open with 500 gaming tables and a mix of gaming machines. Baccarat tables will doubtless be the mainstay of gambling revenue although some newer games, such as the money wheel and three-card poker, will be on offer.

RWS is celebrating its first Chinese New Year with a Stefanie Sun concert on 16 February. As Singapore’s number one pop icon and following two sell-out concerts in Hong Kong, she will be performing her hit songs at the Resorts World Convention Centre’s Compass Ballroom. The first international star to perform at the integrated casino resort will be Tom Jones for a one night only concert on 26 March. Voyage de la Vie, the resident musical extravaganza, will open later this year. The four hotels, which opened 20 January, are said to be fully booked until the end of this month.

Crockfords Tower, one of the hotels, is the home of the soon to be opened casino. Described by Genting as ‘More than just gaming’, Resorts World Casino is where you can see Dale Chihuly’s magnificent glass sculptures, taste some of Singapore’s best culinary delights, and watch top-class shows. Yesterday the final touches were being added before the casino opens to guests this weekend. (E-02.10.10)
