The first day of the show saw queues of delegates waiting to register and once inside, as usual, they were forming a procession milling around the exhibition before deciding to enter a stand. Then the sound of drums and whistles could be heard, bringing the rhythm of the Brazilian Batucada to the Casino de Entre Rios exhibit. The beat caused the zombie-like delegates to wake up and enjoy the colourful dance group with the musicians. The party had commenced!

One company at the show that is gaining ground in Eastern Europe is EXTREME GAMES under the direction of its Managing Director, Angel Gallego. Formerly with Unidesa he has a young and ambitious team working with him, and has already made a strategic alliance in the vast Russian market that will advance further at Moscow’s Eelex show in December. This should put Extreme Games amongst the young giants of the industry in a very short time.

Another ‘new kid on the block’ is the company NOVA DESITEC from Catalunya in Spain. They have a range of state of the art games at the forefront of technology that beats many of the leading manufacturers. Under the joint direction of Jordi Ferrer and Raúl Ortín this dynamic Barcelona-based company has games such as ‘Gangster’, ‘Hallowe’en’ and ‘Mad Professor’ which have established themselves in the market for the quality of their design and operational value.

Gaming Partners International (GPI) were represented at their stand by the Sales Manager for Latin America, Nicolas Dienot. GPI is a corporation formed from famous names: Bourgogne & Grasset, Paul-Son and Bud Jones, and are suppliers to the gaming industry of sensitive equipment including roulette wheels, chips and playing cards.

It is at shows like SAGSE 2004 that business deals are struck and companies make the sales that will see them into profit. That’s why the show year for the gaming industry has increasing numbers of dates that take delegates to ever more destinations. Next year, for the first time, there will be SAGSE PANAMA 2005 from 26-27 May. Another date for the diary!
