For those who have witnessed the constant battle of the company Monografie S.A., under the direction of Giorgio Gennari, over the last 13 years to consolidate the position of SAGSE Buenos Aires as the unequalled Latin American gaming expo, the event some two weeks ago turned it into one of the world’s four major shows, alongside G2E, ICE and EELEX.
To reach these heights, SAGSE Buenos Aires has had to go through not only the catastrophic economic crisis that hit Argentina at the start of the millennium, when the show was forced to move to the Conrad at Punta del Este in Uruguay one year, but also the concerted efforts of a rival organization to mount an alternative exhibition and force the SAGSE event out of business. Now there is the sweet smell of success for the Argentinean show.
Monografie has just released its figures for this year’s event at the Centro Costa Salguero, and again they have broken previous records. Both numbers of exhibitors and visitors to the show have exceeded former years, in a pattern of constant growth. The majority of attendees, 92%, were Argentinean gaming professionals, but 30 nationalities were represented and the event attracted 5,658 visitors over the three days. SAGSE 2006 will be held at the same venue over 11th, 12th ad 13th October. (E-11.22.05)
